Low Voltage Lead
As the Low-Voltage Electronics Lead, I am responsible for designing, testing, and manufacturing all electrical components powered by the electric vehicle's separate 12V battery. This includes developing the wiring harness, low-voltage power distribution, data acquisition systems, and ensuring safety compliance. Using RapidHarness software, I design the vehicle’s primary wiring harness and all necessary sub-harnesses, which connect sensors and safety systems to the vehicle control unit (VCU) and the power distribution module (PDM). This setup ensures accurate data collection and effective power distribution. I then manufacture a water-tight, fully-sealed, motorsport-grade harness, incorporating techniques like concentric twisting for enhanced durability and flexibility, and service loops to allow for quicker maintenance at the connectors.
Additionally, I use Altium Designer to create PCBs tailored to the vehicle's design requirements, balancing packaging constraints and external factors such as vibration and noise. These PCBs primarily facilitate data acquisition and support the vehicle's safety systems. I work closely with the Accumulator Lead to ensure seamless integration of safety systems and monitoring devices within high-voltage systems, enhancing vehicle performance and maximizing driver safety.
