Ergonomics Lead

As the Ergonomics Lead, I am responsible for the design, validation, and integration of all driver interfaces, including the pedal box, seat, steering wheel, and various accommodations. During the design process, I work closely with the drivers and use driver jigs and quick prototyping to ensure the proper placement of my parts to be accessible to drivers.

I use CAD software to model my parts and finite element analysis software to simulate load cases on parts for validation. Load cases are taken from past competition data or as the ruleset requires. Designs must be rule-compliant for the safety of the drivers while being adjustable and comfortable for the drivers. I use multiple manufacturing methods for the system.

Most of my parts use CNC manufacturing, while others, like the seat or steering wheel, use carbon fiber layups. In addition to manufacturing driver interfaces, I am also responsible for driver safety harnesses, including designing and manufacturing seatbelt clevises. Destructive testing is performed on these parts to validate their strength and satisfy the ruleset.
